  • AI Engineer
  • Backend Developer
  • Cloud Engineer
  • Data Architect

The functions vary; what the sector keeps asking for does not. In defense technology, the hire usually has to hold a standard under pressure, run people who are a long way from headquarters, and make a call without waiting for permission — which is a description of the job our candidates already did.

How we write up a defense technology candidate

Worked examples, not real people. They are here so the format can be reviewed before real candidates are published, and each one is labeled.

Why this pool, here

What actually transfers into defense technology

They were the customer

Somebody who carried the equipment knows why a requirement is written the way it is, which capability claims will not survive contact, and what a user will actually do with a system at three in the morning. That knowledge reaches a product team faster than any amount of customer research, and it arrives before a demo fails rather than after.

A clearance that is already current

Sponsoring a clearance costs money and months, and the months are usually the expensive part — a contract cannot start without cleared people in the seats. A candidate holding a current, in-scope clearance removes a schedule risk that is otherwise entirely outside your control.

Fluent in the customer's language, and in yours

The hard part of defense technology is rarely the engineering. It is that the buyer, the user and the builder describe the same thing three different ways. Somebody who has been the user and has since done the commercial work can translate in both directions, which is a much rarer skill than either half alone.

The general case — the six things that show up in the first ninety days whatever the sector — is on what triple vetted means. If a résumé here is hard to read, the glossary translates it.

  • Hiring people who used to be the customer

Should a defense technology company hire the people who used to be its end users?

A company selling into special operations benefits from people who carried the equipment. What that buys, what it does not, and the post-government employment rules to get right first.

  • What a security clearance is actually worth to you as an employer

Is it worth paying more for a candidate who already holds a clearance, or should I sponsor one?

Sponsorship costs time before it costs money, and the time is the expensive part. How to value current, in-scope and reinstatable clearances, and why the difference decides your schedule.
